250se owners manual found history significant?
« on: November 25, 2008, 02:10:14 »
I found the owners manual in my 67 250se with the nubers matching the chassis and motor. It shows a delivery in 11 oct 1967 from Jarris and Heinsdorf GMBH. in Offenbach. The manual has the recorded services up to 54000 miles with dealer stamps. I am guessing this falls in to the neat to know category and thats about it.

The obvious question is there anything special about this car? Does this mean its a euro version transported over here?

dbrisson,
these documents are important inasmuch buyers very often look for the car history, both owners and maintenance history. A car that has all books and maintenance and repair documentation will sell better and faster than a car without them.
Your car was obviously sold by the Mercedes Benz Branch (Niederlassung) in Offenbach, Germany.
Jaus (?) + Heinsdorf GmbH (the photo is a bit out of focus) was the buyer, i.e. first owner (Besitzer). As such, it is probably a German version; if you have the data card, that will confirm it.
It would be great if you also have all the info since then, including export etc. But at least, continue keeping all records while you own the car, the next owner will be happy about that.

A common option in the 60s was to buy the car overseas and drive it a bit. Then to bring it home. It saved some serious money on the cost of acquring the car. I have '63 300se sedan with its original delivery "birth certificate" (another little book separate from what you show) and records of it's first few thousand miles traveled in europe before coming home.  I have similar records for my 230SL's first few years (but not that special little book from the factory). -CTH
