How many miles/km's do you drive per year in your Pagoda?
« on: November 22, 2008, 12:45:06 »
How many of us regularly use our cars, and how many are really "too good to drive" (also known as Trailer Queens). Enquiring minds want to know.

There are some 1200 members on the site. We have around 200 active members. If we have around about 100 votes, we should have a fairly good view on average Pagoda usage through the years.

It's taken me so long to get my hands on a good one that I dare not drive her too much he case she goes pop! :-\
Seriously, the weather being as it is here in London/UK  & me being at work prevents me from Drive Dreaming!!!! ;)

On the other hand if I lived in the US things would be a lot differant. ;D

The insurance is considerable less if you can drive below 1500 a year. :o

Kemal,

I know what you mean... but most people here on the site actually recommend driving your car regularly, and giving her a "bit of welly" as the best antidote against aging....

I know. Whilst I don't drive her as much as Cees drives his, I do get a good 5000 km per annum minimum out of her. It's worth it. I drive mine at least once a week (except for when the weather is really poor) and then I tend to drive 60-120 km's, on a variety of roads. Different revs, different corners, bits of hard braking, all that. Keeps her and me happy!

You're right, I forgot to mention I try to give her the "Italian tune up" once a week or so.
In the dry, of course! ;)

No idea if Peter is right. But his way is LOADS more fun

I don't do a lot - just over 3,500m a year but I enjoy each and every one (that is not stuck in traffic) and when the roads are not salty it gets used year round

I figure mechanicals are relatively cheap and a bit of care on the bodywork will delay bigger work eventually. I just bought a car that last was outside in Sept 1982 and it's rusty as all get out. So you may as well enjoy it going rusty!

Peter:

I think you are really testing the "Poll" option on this new website.

But I did my duty and submitted my kilos.

My car is a driver car, not a queen but it only gets driven one or twice a week because Hong Kong is too small and I live too close to work to drive it everyday.

Before sending her in for cosmetics,I would drive her every week end, normally to run errands for my wife.It became a bit obvious when it would take me 5 trips to the shops to buy a few items.Just kept on "forgetting" items on the list.I would use her every saturday to get to the golf club,a round trip of about 80km.She went in for cosmetics mid October, and I was hoping to have her back  Mid December, but alas,it looks like im only getting her back in January.Insurance limits travel to 8000km per year, but thats cool!

I've done about 9000 miles in 3 1/2 years, so, an overall average of about 2700 miles per year. This includes two trips to Blacklick, each about 1000 miles. Without the Blacklick trips, about 2000 mi. annually.

I use the car for pleasure driving year round, weather permitting. In the winter, the criteria is no snow or salt on the ground. The hardtop went on last week, but I havn't used it since because of snow.

Cees - if you've not yet voted then you'll see selection marks in front of the choices you have and a "SUBMIT VOTE" button beneath the poll... right at the top of the topic.

If you've voted already, you can't vote again...

Is it possible that you voted already and forgot ?

In fact Cees, I looked in the raw database, and you voted. You selected option 2 (the third option from the top, it starts counting at 0), i.e. 2000-5000 km!

Thanks Peter, Richard - I had indeed forgotten I already voted. Now if I can only remember which client I am supposed to be visiting this morning, I will be off. Reminds me of a favorite English saying of mine: "We're lost, but we're making great time!" I guess I do remember some things ...
