M127 230SL question
« on: January 06, 2009, 16:23:26 »
I have a friend with a 230SL build date 7/66 I wondering when polution controls were added? This being a mide year cross over to the last year ofthe 230SL in 1967 when the 250SL was introduced and soldat the same time.

Does anyone have any pictures they can share ofthe engine bay from both right and left  sides.

Thank You
Bob Geco

Bob, I think most of the more serious pollution control equipment came on for the 280, (mid year 1969 11948), some came in when the big switch was made mid run on the 250SL (with all the other changes at 2980). For the early cars, other than the most basic kind of stuff, PCV and the little fume collector pot inside the right rear fender, there is not much to speak of. Two issues back on Pagoda Notes (the edition that has the information on literature has a photo (from the model brochure) of the engine bay.

Bob,

My 230 really is a late 230 - Nov 66 (019694). I can send you photos of the engine bay but like Jonny says, I don't think you'll see anything exciting or informative. The is the gubbins in the boot, but nothing more on my car. Let me know if you want a photo though, and I'll take one for you.

(Note that my car might not be correct in many ways!)
