Okay, I'm stumped. Removed my engine yesterday, and noticed the PS pump was very loose in its mounting. It seems that the pump is secured in the mounting bracket via 2 socket-head bolts that are underneath the pulley. After great effort, I got the pulley off (used a standard bearing removal tool, the kind with a split circle that straddles the groove on the pulley hub... that, in conjuction with an impact gun finally broke it loose)
My confusion: I don't see how those mounting bolts can be tightened except with the pulley off. But, near as I can tell, you can't adjust the pump position (and hence belt tension) if those bolts are tight. There is no way to get to the socket heads with the pulley installed. Am I missing something here?
