Becker TR without DIN Receptacle for Becker Ipod Cable?
« on: March 17, 2009, 13:58:27 »
I tried to hook up the Becker Ipod cable (BNA-CBL.MONO)  to my '68 250 SL Becker TR.

It has 3 receptacles; none of which fit the cable.

There is a 7-prong receptacle (do i need this cable seen in 2nd photo or is that for cassette/sw radio)

Not sure if this is an early TR or 230 SL model radio.

I sent Becker an email.

By the looks of it your radio does NOT have the DIN adapter. The other round adapter with the pins is for a test socket. There is much more on Becker Radios in the Technical Manual nowadays here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Electrical.Radio (I recently updated a lot). Especially have a look at the detailed (German, but useful all the same) installation manual linked to on this page.

For your Becker TR this appears to be the connector diagram: http://www.beckerautosound.com/Classic/europa_tr_opg.html. Note: no DIN plug, the test socket. To get iPod connectivity, you'll need to send it to Becker US, check this page: http://www.beckerautosound.com/Classic/classic%20aux%20input%20info.htm

On the following iPod page I have put two diagrams listing the pin-out of the DIN-plugs and how to attach an iPod cable: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Electrical.Ipod.

I hope this helps.
