Ole Beige and Springtime in New York
« on: April 09, 2009, 10:53:18 »
Well, after a failry mild Winter, the wheels have hit the road again ready for the show and drive season.

Here she is at College Point NY, alongside a quiet park in the north center of Queens (for those of you who know the Big Apple.)

Pedigree: 1969 280SL Tunis Beige Euro Italian version...

and she runs as well as she looks.

Added Engine and Interior photos for those who need inspiration   :)

Whilst you guys getting ready for summer,  We are getting ready for winter.  Had what may be the last of the top down drives for this summer.  Will have to finish off the hard top restoration and get it back on for winter.

By the looks of your hub caps you would have a Light Beige hardtop. I bet it is even more gorgeous with that light colored top.

That's where I am going with it.  It is painted but the glass needs to be refitted, the lining put in and the re-chromed items fitted. Maybe in the next month or so I will actually get it back on the car. It was originally all olive green but I decided I would try a different top as I really like the look of the two tone cars.  If it works great, if not then I will put back on the old hub caps and the hard top to see it that is OK, otherwise its been an expensive exercise.

Nice Richard. Believe it or not, we have a Springtime here in California too!

A shot from today's Easter drive.

I'm told that parts of California have Spring weather all year round.

I'd be jealous except that CA is a long way from Broadway and the Rockettes...and I like the look of new fallen snow in Central Park.

But I must say, the white car in the very pleasant California surroundings does look very nice.

Well, only been to NYC once but yes, it is fantastic. Stayed in the broom closet of the Milford Plaza! Good location at a decent price for anyone who wants to see the essentials...

As for CA -- where we are now (Nevada County) is almost an anomaly for the state -- we get Fall Colors then some snow in the Winter. So Spring is always a welcome sight for me and my car...

Enjoy your rides in ole Beige.
