DELIVERED IN CANADA
« on: December 17, 2003, 19:11:26 »
Will, aka W14, asked me, if my 1965 230 SL, production number 11426, 8)  "Maude" was delivered in Canada.  I do not know.  The only clues that I have are that it was probably purchased in Montreal, Canada by a doctor working in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. Five years later he may have traded in at the same dealership in Montreal. I have a 1963 parts catalogue with following information hand written on page eleven: "4815 Buchan, Mont. 9, 735-3585".  Does anybody have a mid 60's Montreal telephone book?

I e-mailed the Mercedes Data Centre but didn't get any feeback.

Any amateur sleuths out there?

Rupert

Hi Rupert,

Do you know the "order number/auftrags.nr" from the data card?  Mine is "57010208": the 5 = ordered in 1965, the x701xxxx = it was ordered by a Canadian dealer, and it was the 208th car ordered by that dealer in 1965.

My 65-230SL has the number 57010039, according to the datacard, so it must be the 39th car ordered in 1965 for Canada delivery

re data card for "Maude"

I do not have a data card for Maude.  I tried e-mailing the Mercedes Centre for a data card but did not receive any response.  Is there any trick to e-mailing the Mercedes Centre.  What is the correct e-mail address.  I do have the tag for under the seat and the trunk spare tire tag.

You need to write them the old fashioned way, on paper.  You will need to include proof of ownership (current registration) along with your request for a data card.  Search this site for "Dillenberger" to get the specifics.
