332G Blue was it available in 68

  The Technical manual shows 332G Blue as a color available from 63'-65'  I am interested in a car that is being represented as original and the data plate shows 332G but the vehicle is a 68' 250SL??  Is there something fishey going on with this listing?

The 250 is the rarest 113, built '66 - '68. Looks like a better than good example if as represented. Stunning color combination!
If that's the original paint and interior it's impressive... a one-owner car with records for that price seems like a very good buy.
Detail the drivetrain and enter it in preservation class.

The Tech Manual doesn't give the source for the years available paint data. I wonder how  reliable the entries are.

I also believe that even if the years may be accurate, some colors were still available for other MB models and a dealer might have made a request for an "other model" color.

I'm usually persuaded about color by the body plate and the Data Card (if available) and a compare to the dash color (which is rarely repainted). In case of serious doubt, there are small hidden areas where the original paint can be uncovered.

When I saw the Tunis Beige Metallic on my current ride, I said, "Hmm, looks like Coffee Ice Cream"...one of my favorite flavors. I took the car home and have enjoyed the delicious (and uncommon) color since then.

If you like the color and the car, I suggest you not fret about color availability. The future buyer of your blue car won't even think about color years and I've never had a judge ask.

I'm not believing what I see on that car.  I'd bet it's a repaint, too.  Why was the dash wood refinished if everything else is so pristine?  I think the tags tell us why there are no engine pics.  The tags look old and the engine tag is corroded.  The heat/ventilation levers have been replaced with the cheater kind.  The underside is also rather weathered for such a pristine upperside.  No pics of under the trunk mat?

I like good photographs, but, when the photos to sell a car become more about the photography than the car, I get suspicious.  All that said, $44K may still be a fair price.  The description appears to represent the car as more.

332 G was available for the 250SL. Production for the 250SL ended in December 1967, but US version vehicles as of serial number 113043-..-002982 were termed US Model Year 1968.
332 G was not available for the 280SL. The successor was 904 G.

Nice car... I thought those hubcaps were only avalable on the 280 SL

This car is not "all-original." The interior was clearly re-done. Carpets, seats and wood. I'd say the dash was re-covered as well. If the seller were more forthcoming, I'd be less skeptical about it.

   I appreciate all your comments.  The car is surely a looker but the many hours I have spent learning from the membership here had me skeptical as well.  I have decided to wait for a more authentic car and seller story.
