Loose side window (With pics)

Yesterday I noticed that the drivers side window was looser than normal and wouldn't roll down all the way.  So today I investigated.  I removed the door panel and found that one of the guides had lost it's stick and fallen off the window and down the track preventing the window from rolling down the last 5". 

So my question is, is it possible to epoxy the guide back onto the window and track without removing the window?  It's a tight fit but it looks like it can be done?
And is there anything else I should do while I'm at it?  Grease the track etc...

I was happy to see that the plastic liner was intact and in good shape, door panel also in good shape, and drain holes nice and clear...

Yup I did thanks, but mainly I was wondering if it was common/ possible to to remount the guide to the window with the window in place and not having to take it out. 
I guess I will find out shortly

Hi Chan,
I just completed the task of replacing the guides on the driver's side window.  I pretty much followed the procedure in the wiki.  I think you'll find that taking the window out is not too difficult and will make the proper placement of the guide and felt a LOT easier.

One thing I did find, is that you want to use a very thin layer of epoxy to glue the felt onto the window glass (as well as fairly thin felt).  There is not a lot of clearance between the aluminum guide and the glass.  I had to shave the felt down with a single edge razor blade to get a good (and not too tight) fit.

Since you've already got the door panel off, removing the attachment screws for the glass is not a lot of work.  Just be sure to support the glass while removing the attachment screws.  As I remember, the glass is sandwiched between two pieces of support metal...there is not a channel that it sits in so the glass can fall if you don't support it.

Dash, When I did my car, I had to remount all four.  The real trick is to get them mounted to the glass straight.  if you don;t but think you have, the window will NOT crank smoothly.  these are the guides.  they must be right.  I suggest removing the window.  It isn't that bad of a job.  your over half way there already.

I epoxied the felt to the guide first and then was able to slide the guide up the track and onto the window without much difficulty.  Made sure the guide was flush with the window (thanks Naj) and let it dry.  Maybe I got lucky and got it mounted straight because it rolls up nice and smoothly now.  Much better. 

It was a perfect time to clean out inside the door and regrease everything.   I can't wait for the next opportunity to do some unscheduled cleaning and mx
