Door rattle
« on: July 02, 2009, 22:07:46 »
My car has developed a door rattle on the drivers side on very irregular occasions.  I'm fairly certain it's not the window glides as if I hold the door down it stops the rattle.  A buddy suggested it must be the striker plate (part # 72-2030).  He said they can get worn.  There is a rubber gasket inside into which a metal pin from the door slides.  Has anyone experienced this problem and perhaps this simple fix?  The part is (of course) not cheap so I hate to order it without some input from the respected wizards here.

Check the screw hiding under the armrest that helps hold the door panel to the door.

flacc,

Does this happen with the window up or down or doesn't it matter?

On my car, the bottom of the window mechanism was touching the bottom of the door--or darn close to it.  Going over a bump or rough pavement made a metal on metal contact.  A window adjustment, and some cushion on the bottom of the door solved the issue.

Try isolating precisely when the rattle occurs and the conditions that may exist.
