Misfire when up to temperature & under load
« on: July 16, 2009, 14:43:41 »
Made this post a month ago but no one helping me! My 280sl runs absolutely perfect when cold, but once at operating temp' it starts to misfire, only on one cylinder or at least that's how it feels, at first only under load, but later it back fires a little under deceleration. At idle and revving at stand still  it is fine!! Any ideas??????? Aidan

Hello,

Sounds like the engine is running too lean when hot. Check the fuel filter first. Replace it if it has not been done in recent history.
This must be done before you can feel confident to go  to more complicated items, like linkage, fuel delivery pressure and volume.
