Throttle housing switch woes
« on: August 18, 2009, 20:00:34 »
I am having a problem with my throttle switch. This is the switch that is wired to the 3 - position auto trans solenoid that tells the solenoid when the throttle is in the idle postion. Here's the story:

I purchased a new switch #000 545 33 04 when I rebuilt my throttle housing 6 months ago. Everything was OK until recently when I discovered that the switch was working only periodically. I did a very extensive test on the entire circuit and confirmed that the switch wasn't working 100% of the time (the kickdown function does work 100%). I took the switch apart and cleaned it. It worked well for awhile but then started it's old tricks. I cleaned again three more times with the same result everytime. I put my old original beat up one back on and it works 100% time again.

For reasons of appearance, I would really like to use a new one. Does anybody know of someone who could look at this switch and maybe figure out why it is not working? I found out that the switch is now NLA according to the Classic Center so that is not an option. Does anyone have one that they might like to sell?

Signed,

Frustrated
