Auto Transport Company

I am looking for some recommendations for a company that can provide enclosed transport from Ohio to Texas. There are alot of transporters, but I would feel much better if I knew my new baby was in the hands of a service that comes recommended. Thanks.

I have had cars shipped several times to Florida from different parts of the country but never to Texas.  However, of all the companies that I have used, far and away the very best was Exotic Car transport Specialists.  All are enclosed if you ask for it, and each car rides on it's own shocks.  They are very good about inspecting the car body etc for damage before hand and note each very well.  The down side is that they are more expensive but I do feel that for a car in good to great shape, that it is well worth it.  I have always been very happy with their service, and have been burnt by some others.

There is also a website that reviews autotransport companies which you should google for which I highly recommend but can not recall what it's name is at this time.  It has posts from people all over the country about their experience with different auto transport companies. 
Do be aware of a company from Washington state, I don't recall the name right now but they are listed under several names and have a awful record and my experience is included under one of their company names.

I used Exotic about 6 or 7 yrs  ago and they were great.  Good communication, on time, and a very nice rig.  If I remember correctly the trailer even had hardwood flooring inside.

In 1990 I had a car shipped from Virginia to the west coast.  I regret that I can't remember the name of the company. 

My first hint of a problem was when the company called to say that the car had arrived.  They ended the conversation with "...and your exhaust system is here too."  It sure was.....laying along side the car.  Apparently the car had been driven on the carrier with enough force to catch the system on the carrier and remove it along with a piece of the hedder pipe.  There was also quite of bit of body dings, a missing hubcap a few other injuries.

The second shock came when I discovered all the fine print loopholes in the carrier's "insurance coverage" that I had paid for.  Turns out the fine print essentually put the coverage claim back on my insurance company.  A year or so later my company paid most of the $3000+ cost (less deductable), but they could have refused coverage because I hadn't purchased a "rider" to cover shipping damage.

Moral:  Make sure your insurance covers any transportation damage.  My insurance company also advises to be very careful when you sign the transportation agreement because often there is a clause which signs away your company's right to recover their costs from the carrier.

I would steer clear of DAS, aka Dependable Auto Shippers.  Of the 200+ cars I've had shipped only two suffered damage in transit, both were with DAS.
