Jesse, thanks for the concern! I had checked my tensioner while doing the repair. It was actually something that took me a few minutes to figure out. There was enough load in the tensioner to cause my timing gear to lower about 1/8 inch which made the gear impossible to get back on the cam. I had to push the tensioner arm down pretty hard to move the tensioner gear lower, which then let my timing gear come up to the level of the cam shaft. The more I drove the car on Monday, the quieter it got; probably the tensioner loading up more with oil flow. There is about 3/16" of "looseness" on the guide side of the chain, so I still believe it may be time for an update.
