Sliding antenna
« on: November 10, 2009, 13:23:57 »
My manual antenna has started to slide down on its own while driving.  It's just the base section that's loose; sections above it are stiff to move.  Is there a tension adjustment in the antenna body base, or must one wrap tape, etc., around it to prevent the sliding?

-Thx, H

If your car still has the original Hirschmann antenna with a removable coax cable yes this antenna can be disassembled and the brass contacts can be bent for more tension against the mast, If it has a replacement antenna, no these do not come apart.

Does the same hold true for a Bosch manual antenna? Mine has a blue plastic tip with a chrome crown. It looks original and has a nice chrome base instead of the replacement's black plastic base. I cannot get the lower section to retract.

Thanks!
