Hello fellow pagodeans.

I noticed that this has gone off its position on my early 250sl. What is it? The car seems to run without problems. Would it be OK if I just glue it back?

Hi,

It's the pump for the windshield washer, and just gluing it back together without reconnecting/soldering the
wires/connections will not make it work again. They're are still available new for around 80-90 euros.
Current part number is 1088690121.

It takes some patience, but if the pump was working and not completely settup you probably can get it back together. It looks like the cap with the brushes came out. Probably like fixing the clock though. You get it together, It works a while then you buy a new one when it stops working about the third time. It is worth a try to fix it though. You need to hold the brushes back while installing the cap. Small string or thread may work, you slid the string out after holding the brushes back while putting the cap back on.

Mine stopped working a while back, and so I recently bought a replacement from Miller's. 2nd photo shows it installed.  However, as received, the mounting bracket was not drilled in the right place for installation.  Turns out you can disassemble the bracket end, so we cleaned up the old bracket and installed it in the new pump.  Took a little re-drilling.  The new washer pump is now securely mounted and washing windshields like new!  1st photo shows the new bracket with its mis-spaced mounting holes.
