It has been a good day! After cleaning the fuel pump motor and housing it started working. Turned it on and let it run and allowed it to pump gas for a few minutes through all the lines to clean them out. Then they connected everything, new gas, new filters, and voila! It started in less than 10 seconds. The mechanic said it spit and sputtered for a minute or two and then it just settle down and idled at 800 RPM. He let it run for 30-45 minutes and kept an eye on it and the thermostat opened and closed as designed. He then drove it around the block. I got there later this afternoon and he started it for me...it was so quiet and it reved up and sounded great. It has an exhaust problem as it backfires/burps when you let off the gas...but overall... Hooray!! Next he will drain all the fluids, repace some of the rubber hoses and check the brakes etc. I have two different body shops coming to take a look at the rust, so we shall see. I also got my data card from MB today and everything seems to match with the exception of the tops. The hard top is suppose to be black as we talked about before, and the softtop should be black as well. It is currently tan (seems to be brand new).
So that was my day. Overall, not a bad one... One day at a time......
