How to repair door latch/ striker?
« on: October 10, 2009, 04:04:41 »
I am curious if someone has had any success removing the inner rubber/brass part from a door latch = locking eye = striker?
I tried removing the inner part from a damaged one but the only way I could do this was to cut off the rubber end piece. I tried to compress the ring until the diameter was smaller than the rear opening but still could not push it through.  If you look at the photo you'll see that the rear opening has smaller ID than the front and the rubber portion has a groove that fits around that rim.
I wonder how these things were assembled in the first place?  Anybody knows?
