Solenoid Rubber Spacers - still available?
« on: November 26, 2009, 14:46:27 »
Are these rubber spacers for the solenoids still available - or could I find something like this at the hardware store?

I don't know if they are, but a quick trip to your local hardware store you can pickup 4 faucet washer for $.35 each, cheap alternative.

Answer to your question, no they are not available any longer from Bosch.  I tried to find new ones a few years ago.  You need to find a 111 or 112 sedan and take off the regulators, you will see that they have the same rubber spacers, but rubber might be cracked.

There are these from Finland. They are for a GM application so may be available in the US.
Somewhat bigger than originals.

Hello,

This type of relay was used on many many MB sedans up into the mid 70s.  You should be able to find some nice used ones from almost any W108, W114, W111, W112, MB sedan of that era. Hopefully you have access to some donor cars.

I just made a couple of these last month for my 280SL.   I found rubber grommets at either Home Depot or Lowes ( can't remember for certain) and removed the old cracked rubber and replaced the two new black rubber gommets over the original brass sleeve.  Looks as good as the original  and cost about a buck.  Good luck.   Greg
