Can someone look at a car in Atlanta for me?
« on: December 09, 2009, 17:35:47 »
I have been corresponding about a 280SL project car in the Atlanta area.  I need someone to check out the body only.  Compensation negotiable.

Thanks,
Chuck Taylor

Hi Chuck,
great .. but does it fit under the Christmas tree?
Or are you planning to use it as the tree stand??  ;D
Have fun with it!

I may have to sleep in it - this was not popular with Senior Management.

Just curious, how much? Just like to know the current values, unless you want to keep it under wraps.

Since it was posted on Mercedes Heritage, no great secret.  12.5K

- stripped and primered
- minor surface rust
- new engine rebuild parts + machine work
- rebuilt IP
- all chrome re-plated
- US car, automatic, AC
- both tops
- warranted complete except for exhaust
- some assembly required

Delivery tomorrow, more to follow.

I thought you either got a great price or a very brave man, or perhaps both.  You must love challenges!

Good luck , I'm sure you havie some exciting times ahead

Well, it arrived this morning in a box truck driven by the seller's nephew.  We unloaded the parts containers and summoned a flat bed.  Rolled the car onto the flatbed, moved the box truck, and rolled the car into the garage.  First impression is that it is, as represented, a very solid car.

So now to find a painter and figure out how to store this enormous pile of parts.

With all those boxes, it could be a winter, spring, summer, fall and winter again project!
