Author Topic: One item that is not secure under the hood Washer Bottle  (Read 4858 times)

The winshield washer reservoir is not secured under the hood of my 1970 280SL.  It just seems to sit peacefully wedged between the brake booster and two electrical relay boxes on the right side of the engine compartment.
I have included pictures showing current location.

If this the proper placement and way to store it, or should the reservoir be secured in another location?

Thanks

Jim

Yes.  Seems unfinished though doesn't it?  Like they meant to put it somewhere but forgot to get back to doing so.  There was a thread about a bracket but I believe it only held one ear and it still fit in the same space.  Search under...water bottle bracket.

Late 280SL have no bracket, early ones do.

Thanks guys, that is all I wanted to know.   I am OK with it sitting where it is.

I suspect that the installation was contrived at about 5:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon......

I had the same question and did the search on the website about a year ago.
I was VERY surprised to see that my car was factory original in this location. ;D
What exactly were they thinking?
Is there any sense in having the reservoir just sitting there? ???

After a lot of thinking  ;)  they decided that it is actually a good reminder.
When the bottle gets thin enough to fall around, you better refill it!   :D ;D ;D

Interestingly enough, I noticed that I had also an unsecured item under the hood, and that was always the same: the girl seating in the right seat. Unfortunately, that was irreparable. Do you have any advice how to fix that item? ;D
