What is contained in option code 491 ?

I did a search but could not find the answer to this question:

What are all the specific changes covered by option code 491, U.S. version? I know that the headlights and emission controls are different but is there any other equipment such as seatbelts?

Don't have a good source for that either, sorry ...

But the additions/changes with code 49/1 (or 491) changed over the years; will say more changes were introduced the younger the SLs are. A 1971 280 has much more changes associated with 49/1 than a 1964 230...
(the latter only having sealed beam headlight units, English instruments, omission of the horizontal polished aluminum "chrome" stip under the rear number plate... ).

So, it's heavily depending on your "model" year.

Thank you for the information. I have a 1969 280SL.

The reason I asked is that the car has a number of optional features that are not explicitly listed on the data card:
head rests on both sides
passenger side mirror
seat belts
radio antenna (it has the option for interference suppression without the radio)

I was trying to figure out if all of those items were installed after delivery or if they were standard for the U.S version in my model year.

for my late reply.

Among the options you listed
the passenger rearview mirror is not stock but was later installed. Otherwise the relevant code field  would be checked (50/8 or 508 I believe to remember).

I am not absolutely sure about the antenna but I think that was included in the interference suppression kit.

Headrests and belts were factory for 49/1 in 1969.
