When I put on my right mirror a few years back I found out that the door is double at the mirror installation location.  So is the extra plate needed?  I just need to find a convex mirror with the blueish tint as found in the left mirror; it is just a matching thing for me.

I just got a right side mirror from Miller's for a 230.  I understand they were out of production for a while, but maybe they're back now.

Hello Bruce,
The extra plate would only be needed on the 230/early 250s with the goose-neck stem where you are going to move/install the mirror further back along the door (and miss the reinforcing plate) to improve visibility.

Please let me know if you do find the convex mirror lenses for the 280.

Digging up an old thread.....  I am looking for a right side mirror for my '69 280SL an wondered if anyone had any experience with the one that K&K Mfg lists on their site (assuming it is available).  Any other sources that folks know of???

The mirror is available.  Yes you can get it from various merchants including K&K, the MB Classic Center.
