622 option code?

The note from the classic center simply says "622  version for Great Britain". Does anyone know what this means?

The reason I'm confused is that my car is left-hand drive (chassis numbers all match). In addition, the dealer code is 212 (Berlin).

Why would it have the "version for Great Britain" option code?

Unfortunately, I don't have the original data-card, only the annotated faxed copy from the classic center.

Ok, I have more data. The following was found on the website http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~mtor/mbcodedsc.html

Since my car is a 1965 model, my particular option is actually "D-SIGN", whatever that means.

Probably that there was an oval, white sticker with "D" on the back of your car. This is the normal European country denomination, needed when crossing borders.

There were indeed stickers, supposed to be attached to the right corner of the trunk (boot) lid, above the filler cap.

However, this was Germany/Mercedes in the sixties, remember - solid it must be  
The factory mounted "D" sign was thus a metal plate, oval in shape. It was mounted centrally on the lower part of the rear body of the W113,
 below the line between the (rear) chrome bumpers.
This info is from factory SA instruction 88/1, dated Feb 1966.

"D" Metal plates at the time of W113 production were flat steel with a pressed-in edge around, see pic below. Yes, one can find these at auto markets in Europe

Well, that solves the final mystery on my data card. Now I just need to figure out why the previous owner replaced the engine and swapped the rear axle for that of a fintail.... (I reverted to an original 230sl axle a few years ago).

Are you out there somewhere engine #008477 and rear axle #010184

In anticipation of The European Event I would like to attach a solid "GB" plate below my car's rear number plate in the style of the "D" plate in the photograph in Hans' post.

I have found a solid oval "GB" plate with dimensions 139mm x 92mm. Does anyone have the country plate as pictured or know the dimensions? Also, would anyone be able to post a picture of the fixings?
