Are you covered? Fender Work Cover
« on: July 02, 2010, 01:45:14 »
What better way to protect our works of art when servicing them, than professional, custom, functional and attractive car covers?  These tough babies are vinyl on top with thick padding and an underlayment of fleece to baby the paint.  Custom made to hook into the fender lip for stability, completely drape the entire fender top and side with a cut out for the antenna.  When done, a simple fold and drop into their custom bag to be tucked or hung away until further needed.  Great for oil changes, tune ups, oily valve adjusting and the heavy stuff.  Produced by and available from www.blackforestllc.com in black and edge bound with your choice of color binding.  I'm going to get a custom set for my 190 SL too.

Looks good!  Bruce Adams was fabricating these for the 190sl.  His method starts out with a fiberglass mold of the front fenders and then covered with what looks like vinyl.

What are they asking for the covers at Black Forest?

Am I the only one sensing a "group buy" coming on?

These look excellent - even if not on the website/priced

John,

Is that a dwell meter sitting on the left fender?

How old is it? 1960s?

I have the Bruce Adams covers for my 190 SL.  They don't hold a candle to these.  As you said, fiberglass...as in they don't fold and how are you supposed to store them?  Yes, if you drop a steering box from a distance above the fender, the fiberglass will give you more protection than these more pliable covers, but that's about the only advantage, which is why I'm having BF make a set for my 190 SL with blue piping.

Fender covers are not on the website, being a relatively new item.  You need to call the shop and talk to Michael, 414-228-4899

Yes, that's a dwell/tach meter and yes, I used it on my Mustang in the 60s.  It's outlasted several other more modern examples.  The timing light is a Snap On from I'm not sure when, it was my dad's.  Wasn't really doing anything, just looking to see if everything was still to spec, and it was, and took a look at a plug.

Cool how the piping on the cover follows the line of the door crease.

Now you need a piece for the front panel for when the bonnet (hood) is off.

I recognised the dwell meter because I inherited one as well.
Thanks

I'm in on a group buy as well.  It may make Michael's live a little more sane if we could do a group buy and not hammer him on the phone.

I'd be willing to talk to Michael at Black Forest about the idea of a group buy idea, unless someone else is already doing it.  John (or anyone else?), are you already talking to Michael, or would you like me to take this on?

I am interested in a group buy also.  All I would ask is how much these will cost, either individually or as a group.

you can email or PM me is you like.

Thanks Craig

Yes, I see Michael often, today in fact.  I didn't inquire specifically about a group buy for the Pagoda group, but, I know Michael has group ideas for the covers.  Don't hesitate to call him with your thoughts, he will be in tomorrow and I may see him, and will mention the discussion...414-228-4899.  Glad to help in any way I can.

I talked to Micheal, and he's going to create an "options list" for the W113 fender covers.  The fender covers can be made with a number of different color combinations and options like pockets.  When finished, the option will be posted for the group to review and order from.  Michael is considering give forum members a discount, and may also be able to include the group logo.

When the list is completed, it will be posted.

Here is the quote given to me by Michael.  Rather than placing a group order, he´d like to have each person call him individually to place your order, indicating which option, color selection, etc.  Be sure to mention that you are with the Pagoda SL Group to get the great discount he´s offering!

Hi Craig,

The W113 fender cover pricing is as follows:

***All covers sold as a set of 2 including bag***

1) Standard Black Forest fender cover set in blue vinyl: $249.99 (I will forward you a sample picture soon)
2) Black or blue cover with custom color piping and binding (as seen on John Lewenauer's car): $299.99
3) Other MB-Tex colors are available for the cover, with custom color piping and binding: $349.99
(We will add the color swatches for the MB-Tex on our Facebook page soon)

Options 1 & 2 are both priced at $199.99 (for a limited time to be determined) for the W113 Group.
Option 3 is priced at $299.99 for the group.

A color swatch of the cotton binding can be viewed on our Facebook page by following this link:
