Last saturday i wrote to the guy that bought my car in 1970, not really expecting him to be still alive, Unfortunatley he isnt, But his daughter emailed me and said he died 4 years ago aged 96, So he was 60 when he bought my car in 1970, I wrote asking what happened to my sun visors and could i have them back, (and the screws to hold them on) she thought it was very funny and Stanley would have laughed too, but she said he wouldnt have taken them off, She remembers her father and mother loved the car very much and she is glad its being looked after, And was very intrested how it got in my hands, Etc, I will now track down the second owner to see if he still has them, I want to get the ones that came off the car if possible, Just so i dont let stanley down, Because as you know he kept everything just so so, Any body out there live in SN LOUS, Where the second owner is ,was, I could email there address so you can go and ask where my sun visors are

Reg--face facts.  The worst bit of engineering in the entire Mercedes-Benz history was the [self-destructing] sun visors on the W113.  They were, at best, poor quality and sufficiently bad to have had no business being installed on a car that at the time, was pretty expensive.  Yours are gone because they just disintegrated.

If you found the originals, you would not want them.  Kayvan sells a repro set on this site and I've seen them--you will not do better.

But, the history is always fun, isn't it?  Nice you made contact with the family.  Everyone remembers this car.

Michael, I know your right, I just thought it would be nice to make it complete, For Stanley (the first owner) as much as me,
I will continue to track them down until somebody says there in the bin (trash) I wouldnt use them, I always wear my sunglasses  Thinking about Stanley born in 1910, Been through 2 wars must have faught in the second one, Buys a german car and lives in the USA, I wonder what side of the fence he was on ? Just a thought

Like Ulf - my replacement visors are in a nice box that I bring out when necessary - most times I drive around without them.  Real men don't use visors - they just 'squint'!

Its not the visors that bother me, they belong to the car, if i can track them down its complete, if not i dont think i would buy repro, ive got to try.

My visors are original.  They look good and work well.  I've seen better OE though and they are not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the car.

I thought I would defend the sunvisors. Mine are 42 years old, still look new and do the job they were designed for.

Bought A New 55 Tbird, No sunvisors until the 56 came out,They were missed on many occasions,
   I know what your all thinking, I coulda bought A Gull Wing for A few thousand more!!

My visors are original and in GREAT shape, but then so is the rest of the interior.  Many thanks to the two previous owners.
