steering colum from ignigtion switch

how do i take of the steering colum from ignigtion switch from my 280 sl.everythig is lose the clamp ets  is there a magic trick.
the switch wont come off.i have try to pull nothing.
 :'(

i got it loose it was pretty simple :)

Yes,

You turn the key to the first position, then depress the hidden pin next to the clamp and the key/steering lock assembly will pull out of the column. Some later cars you will need to remove the chrome cylinder around the lock first. It iw removable when the key is in the first postition also.
