I am probably the only Pagoda person who didn't know this, and I couldn’t find it in a post, so I thought I would post this just in case.
Did you ever wonder what the little spring clip on top of the cowl flap is for? If you look at it closely, you will see that it has a hole in the top and a tab that forms the top of the flap lever sticking through it. If you push the clip up, and release the tab, the lever will rotate without moving the flap. This makes removing and installing the flap much easier.
To remove, open the flap all the way with the control. Free the tab, and you can rotate the flap to an almost vertical position. You can then reach in easily and unhook the cable end from the bottom of the lever. Undo the four bolts, and the flap comes off easily.
When installing, be sure the tab is free of the clip. Open the control all the way. Position the flap in the near vertical position and screw the four bolts in finger tight. Insert the cable end into the flap’s lever. Push the flap closed and the tab will move up and snap into the hole in the clip. You may need to have a helper hold the control to do this. Once the tab is engaged in the hole, close the flap and adjust it so that it is more or less centered in its opening and the gasket seals well.
