steering gerarbox rebuild
« on: March 20, 2005, 18:50:51 »
My geerbox is leaking and squeeking a bit while turning. The bottom of it is leakinf fluid. It looks like it should be pretty easy to change the seals. Does anyone know about this? I think I'm going to buy a rebuild kit from Bud's and have my mechanic and I go for it. Some replys are needed here.

I re-sealed my power steering box about 2 years ago.  I'll be happy to help out.  Do you have a blowup parts diagram of the box?  That would help improve communications as we talk about certain parts.  You will need a big wrench or socket wrench to remove the large locking nut that goes on the end which secures to the steering shaft.  Buy the rebuild kit and get the box off and we can go from there.
