I installed my new tension rod on my freshly painted hood today. It is a scary procedure. We did one 360 degree revolution. It took 2 of us to stabilize the hood on the bench, while the 3rd muscle man rotated the tension rod. It took all of his strength to turn it one revolution. I guess it being a new rod makes a difference. I used a piece of coat hanger doubled up , that I formed into an S-shape, to hold the rod to the hood, during the installation to the car. With the battery removed, I set my hinge to the body, and screwed the 2 10mm bolts in, all the while a second helper held the hood in place. Perfect adjustment, and rod works well and sets in the little gray holder on the body tight. Before his death years ago, Bud, of Bud's Benz showed me how to make the s hook out of the coat hanger. Is anyone selling a special rod for this? This is a must. I never did trst the coat hanger technique, with that much tension. I heard that someone was making and selling these???
