« on: February 08, 2011, 12:42:10 »
Would any one be able to confirm to me what official Merc colour this interior is? I am thinking maroon Code 242, but not sure. Thanks team!

Peter

Can't get them anymore from Classic USA.  Not sure about Germany.  I posted this earlier.  Need to update WIKI.

John,

Is there an explanation from Classic why they have stopped providing them?

Apparently shysters were getting the data cards on a car by chassis number, and then changing all the other numbers to make the car look like it was a matching numbers car.

Yes Ytoon,

That's most likely correct. :)
AFAIR from the memories there were only very few red color codes for leather with the 280 (i.e. two; in contrast to the 230) and our wiki confirms that. Should be 242. Everything else would be strange. As mentioned before, try to get the datacard from MB Classic Center. Proof of ownership will definitely help.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone and particularly the advise to get the Datacard. Got it from Germany, who were typically efficient and yes it is 242 Leather. Being 42 years old is has quite a patina and changed colour with time. I am now  looking into whether or not  is is it repairable, or do I have to go new…….with the couple of rips present I might be forced to go new - the next challenge!

Final question the: who can recommend a supplier of quality carpets and leather seat covers? Really appreciate all the excellent advice and thanks. JT

Just a very late FYI, we can and will still provide data cards with the proper documentation.
