extra large photos
« on: March 20, 2011, 00:49:00 »
How do I look at the extra large photos guys are posting these days?
I am not used to having to scroll the page and then still not see the whole picture.
How big a photo do we need?
Is there a setting I can use or do I have to buy a 115cm monitor?

thanks

You could right click on the picture and then "save picture as" to your computer.  Then reopen it with your picture viewer which should automatically, or allow you to, view the entire picture.

Well part of this must fall on the person posting. There are explicit recommendations here about the optimal size for viewing, and I like most of us take the time to adjust the pictures before posting. Adjusting picture sizes can be done a number of ways. With my Imac, I use Preview (which automatically comes up when you click a photo saved on the computer). Under tools you can adjust size. I generally like them about 800 X 500 pixels. With Windows XP, I would use Picture Manager.

thanks for the replies.

I am not asking for the pictures size to be reduced, I was wondering about my browser.

I vaguely remember IE8 used to automatically fit an over size picture to the screen area?
It doesn't do that anymore.

Bob,

If I remember correctly, you need to open the "Internet Options" once you have IE8 open.
Once you have done that, you will see a dialog box appear with a number of tabs. The tab on the right "Advanced" is the one you need to open.

Once open, scroll down the list of items with tick boxes and look for the item that asks you to keep the original image size. Make sure that it is unticked otherwise it will not adjust the image size according to you screen.

It has been a while since I used IE, as I find Safari much easier and faster to use.

Hope this helps.
