Windshield Wiper Hardware
« on: May 25, 2011, 15:38:21 »
Hi guys.....

With the windshield wiper arms, nuts, etc, removed from the wiper posts that extend through the body in the cowl area............ can the posts then be slid down inside the hole under the dash?

I'm stripping the car for painting, and would like to get those wiper posts out of the way.  I have everything loose, but there is still something holding the posts up against the body.  Maybe there is sealant holding them in place??  I don't want to force them down inside the hole until I find out that nothing needs to be removed under the dash.

Thoughts are appreciated.

To answer my own question.....  The mechanism is held in place with two bolts on the underside of the dash.  The passenger side is accessible by removing the glove box.

Thanks Don, I was going to check the spare bulkhead/dash in my shed for you yesterday but forgot! You've may have already worked a way to access the driver side but if not I will check. The bulkhead I have is RHD but I guess it will just be  mirror of your LHD.

Looks like you'd have to take one of the dash instruments out, probably the centre gauges, to get at those two driver side bolts.
