can not get the car to run right please help!!!!!

the car is a 1971 280sl with 051 distributor

the linkage , timing ,injection pump were put out of adjustment by a so called mechanic ,I am now taking things in my own hands . this is what I did.the injection pump thermostat does work .
first i adjusted the linkage then
adjusted the timing by hand to the ear since I can not use a timing light since the engine does not idle. than played with all the posible adjustment on the injection pump .got it to run till operating temp but turning the screw on the intake for the air does not raise the idle and when I disconect the linkage at the injection pump or the throtle the idle still does not go up
hope I am clear , and by the way the spark is strong

Hello Erick,
If all other tune up settings are correct, it sounds like you need more injected fuel. Try cranking the low range mixture knob on the injection pump clockwise about three or four clicks to start with. Then see if your air screw will raise the rpms. Make sure the engine is not running when adjusting this knob.
