Rear brake hose part number - '70 280sl
« on: July 06, 2011, 09:13:28 »
Hi All,

In removing my calipers the other week to send of for refurb, I was unable to remove one of the brake hoses from the RHS rear caliper and ended up having to cut it off. I'm now looking for a replacement but the ones i've found don't give me confidence i'm ordering the right part - i've attached a photo, you can see in the foreground the pipe i've cut and it leads back to a plate with a flexi hose on the other side leading to the rear distributor.

the question is, would the part "C 42 337   Brake pipe, left to achor plate left" be the correct one? (yes, it states left but indicates right in the picture)

thanks,
James

All 3 rear pipes are only 4.11 Euros each from SLS. So why not change them all while you are there.
One side is the same length as the middle one, think it is the left. They are supplied straight
you form them yourself. Hope this helps.

Hello James,

Not to cause a panic, but look carefully at bottom right hand corner of the picture you posted.
Look specifically at the bottom of the rear spring and you will see that the rubber pad is not properly installed.

There is part of the spring that rests on the metal spring holder instead of the rubber pad and that might lead to a noise coming from the rear suspension when driving.
