Diamon cut fire wlll pad

I got this email for this ne company saying they are reoriducing the diamoon cut fire wall pad kits. Has any one elese had a chance to compare  this to the orginal. I can not fine were I put he amile on my computer. It is in Los Angeles in the Valley.

Several members of this Forum have been working on producing a concourse level replica of the original material, something that no, and I repeat, no other reseller can claim at this time. We have been successful in getting access to some bulk amount of the original material that the pads were made out of and are now in the process of putting together a product that we are satisfied will meet the highest standards of concourse judging. We are confident of this as some of the material has already won first place in judging as explained in the above thread.

This work is being done by Forum members for Forum members virtually at cost and after satisfying their needs, is being handed to reputable commercial sources for follow on sales.

Feel free to ask any questions but please place them on the above thread so that it is all kept together.

are they installing this in a daily driver, or a show car?

I'm aware that Garry and others are working to develop a "correct" and much needed replacement pad.  You may recall, I submitted some pictures of my original with measurements.  I was just pointing out that I will see this "other" pad that looks a whole lot better than the usual one being offered and will report back with pictures.  I don't think it's going on a show car.

Question, this new member developed pad being qualified for Concours competition...where is there marque specific (113) Concours competition where this kind of detail really comes into play?  And, yes, I'm aware many guys just want it for personal satisfaction.

You and I both tried to reproduce the MB OEM firewall pad that had been used and gave the shiny appearance as your photo shows.

Unfortunately we have both been proved wrong and the original material from an unused OEM pad still held by Tom Collit (Classic Auto's) and the second one that was used on Tom LeClerc's restoration has a grain texture and is of a different composition as explained at the start of the following thread during our voyage of discovery on originality.

And I will add that Alfred's and my interest in this is not and has never been for profit, but only having an expectation that we could recover our costs and ensure we fit the correct pads to our own cars and other forum members that may be interested. It doesn't get much fairer than that
