Power steering judder
« on: May 27, 2004, 20:52:39 »
Hi all,
I've noticed that I have started to get some vibration through the steering when turning at low speed. The steering has some play but not excessive and I recently had it up on the hoist with my mechanic and verified that the ball joints and steering linkage was ok.
Is this a sign of power steering pump problems?
Once again any advice is much appreciated!
Cheers,

It was in my case.  Replaced the pump and improved fluid pressure took care of the problem.  Did however create another problem and that it a leaky steering box.  Correct pressure was too much for an old seal.

You can bleed & refill the fluid to make sure you have the correct fluid and the right amount of it.  Don't forget to replace the filter in the resivoir.

Is there some way to measure the pressure the pump creates and compare it to a factory spec?
