Colour of horn pad, window crank and ashtray lid?
« on: December 04, 2011, 19:08:56 »
I am wondering if anyone knows if the horn pad, window crank insert and ash tray lid are suppose to be the same colour as the seats/interior.  My interior is dark blue MBtex but my pad, crank and lid are all black.  The many pictures I have seen show some with black and some with matching interior colour.  Did the colour scheme change at some point?  Were the US different from the Euro models?  I have a late model Euro 230SL.  I just want to make sure mine is correct.
Many thanks.

Hi Marcus:

The window cranks, ashtray lid and passenger door pull handle were black in 230s and 250s. The 280s were color coordinated with the interior. I'm not sure on the late 250s.
The horn pads were always coordinated with the steering wheel color.

Thanks Rick.  That is one item I can remove from my investigate/fix list.  Aren't you guys getting hammered with snow and cold?

Well, here in CA we are stuck "dreaming of a White Christmas..."

(just like the ones we used to know in Chicago before we moved here?)   :P

The window cranks, ashtray lid and passenger door pull handle were black in 230s and 250s. The 280s were color coordinated with the interior. I'm not sure on the late 250s.
The horn pads were always coordinated with the steering wheel color.

The window cranks, ashtray lid and passenger door pull handle were black in early 230ies up to serial 012466 230s and 250s. The 280s  and were color coordinated with the interior for all later cars. I'm not sure on the late 250s. No difference regarding this between US and non-US versions and early 250ies vs. late 250ies.
The horn pads were always coordinated with the steering wheel color.

Corrected.

OK Achim, thanks for the clarrification.  My steering wheel is black so the horn pad should be black, as it is.  The rest should therefore be dark blue, to match my interior as my serial number is much later.  Are you sure about the door pull handle?  I just can't see that having been changed but maybe it was.  Does anyone have a dark blue pull handle so I can see what it looks like.  I can't recall ever seeing one in all the pictures I have seen.
