Gear Box Plate photo needed

Hi,

Can someone help with a photo please.

I realise I am missing the  cover plate that bolts onto the front of the gearbox- immediately below the sump. With it off, you can see a lower section of the fly wheel. It is held on by two bolts - one large 10mm?, the other about 5 mm.  I have never seen one before and I have a lead on a couple of different shaped plates but it would be great if I could see a photo of one installed.

If anyone has a car on a hoist and could find the time to snap a photo, that would be great. BTW, my car is a 230 manual.

I think black. If I'm not mistaken, the red car belongs to John 'thelews'
The blue 230 is the (over?) restored one from Mechatronics.

Georgem, Metric Motors sent me a new cadmium plated one when they returned my rebuilt engine, along with the old one, which appeared to have a black oxide coating on it.  Along the top where the bend is, there is some sort of asphalt embedded foam, like elsewhere in the car.  I'm going to use the plated one.  You can have the black oxide one if you only want to clean it up and paint it.  The problem is, it will probably cost the price of an engine to ship it from Canada to Australia.  I can measure it up and give you the dimensions so you can make one, if you can't find one.

It's part number A6152505156 from Mercedes Benz and it's listed as 26.83 Euro without VAT.

It's just a piece of sheet metal with one right angle bend.

Thanks Tom,

I`ll have a crack at making one if I can`t find a local - the dimensions should be pretty easy to take off the gearbox. Thanks for the offer. Good info re the sealant though - I will probable silicone gasket the  joint all the way round, not just the top.

Georgem,
Let's make it easier and cheaper for you.  If you set up your printer and your page setup in Microsoft Word to be American Letter Size (maybe it's custom page size for you) (it's 8.5 inches wide by 11.0 inches tall), when you print the photo full size, you should get an exact full scale reproduction of the plate and scale - I did!.  Then you can just add 11 mm for the bend (away from you), and make it from sheet stock that's 1.25 mm thick.  You will have an exact reproduction.  Note that the bend is away from you - It's important because the two holes are not the same size.
