Hopefully this isn't repeated info, but on BBC America they are broadcasting a lot of previous episodes.  Last week they featured Jeremy Clarkson stopping in at a vintage car dealer, & taking a 280SL out for a spin.  After lusting for one for a long time, he said he sort of hoped that he'd hate it & end the obsession....but he didn't. 

He did say that there wasn't a lot of power in the kick-down at 40 mph, but hey, this isn't a brand new SLS or Ferrari that he usually tests.  He gave it a very favorable review stating that his mind hadn't changed and he would indeed like to own one.  He also gave the support network from Daimler a thumbs up as well.

If you don't want to wait for the rerun, I'm pretty sure you could find it on Youtube or other file sharing sites.

Back in the day I had a friend redord that and burn it to DVD and two DVDs were shared around the world snail-mail (oh, and the search function works!! http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=1142.0 )

This was before Youtube etc. Someone on here - or on Dorian's site - knew the car and it was having kick down problems

I go through Wandsworth on my trip to and from work. The dealer has a reputation - most who know the cars they are buying steer clear....

I did use the search function here, but obviously did not find that thread.  You must've used better search perameters then I did...congrats, you get the gold star today!
