Certificaat van Overeenstemming

Guys,

Coming Friday my 230SL will be inspected by the RDW (Dutch DMV) and I hope to receive a NL registration. The car is imported from the US and I have registration papers and proof VAT was paid upon import. I was looking for a Certificaat van Overeenstemming and how to get it ?

What do you need to do to register the car after import if you don't need a Certificate of Conformance? I have gone through a similar thing here in Australia with a US import.

It needs an inspection by the RDW. Once approved  you can register the car and apply for a license. I'm not familair with the process I guess I will know more on Friday and either be happy or sad ....

Good luck with the re-registration process.

I am currently going through the same trying to re-register my car in France. Rob Walker I think was re-registering UK to Spain and Cees Klumper Netherlands to Switzerland.

Maybe when and if we are successful we could each write a how to re-register page for the tech manual.

I am indeed going through the registration process for Switzerland, for two cars (the Earl Camino was just titled here, the Pagoda is in the process) but I have to admit the whole process is quite hazy to me, which is also why I am hiring an agent to do most of the work, and haggling with the authorities, for me. Then as these rules tend to change often, I don't expect the 'useful life expectancy' of any instruction will be very long ...
The good news is that, once it's behind you (and it can be gruesome), you tend to forget about it very quickly - wind in your hair, exhaust note, oil smell, it just erases your bad memories!

Today I passed the inspection. The inspector had difficulties  finding the stamped VIN, but thanks to the forum I could tell him where the look :-) now I have to wait another couple of days before I get the registration papers (snail) mailed to me.  Total costs for inspection and registration E 180,25.  BTW RDW keeps the original (US) registration papers and be sure you bring the proof VAT has been paid upon import. The whole process is pretty straightforward but it takes a bit of time ....
