Well I have made the decision with Kermit being sold, the Green 280SL 5 speed went to a new owner this week.
He has decided to change the original color to a navy blue
Meanwhile I have driven the 230SL back to home today, a distance of 300km (180) miles after giving the engine a flush and cleaning out the breather tubes. Still spat a bit of oil out but not that much that it needed topping up which makes me feel that maybe it does not need a transplant but maybe a good look at the breather into the inlet manifold as I tried the car with the breather disconnected all together for a while and no oil out the dipstick. It does not put any smoke out the exhaust or burn any oil out the back at all, starts cold or hot with ease.
May yet save a bundle.
