Driver door spring problem
« on: August 13, 2012, 16:19:02 »
On the driver's door there is a large aluminum track on the door post that a roller rides up against to ensure that the door opens only part way or all the way. There is a spring within the door itself that applies pressure to this wheel assembly. The passenger door wheel assembly is tight against the track. The driver side door is not. Has anyone had to repair or replace this spring assembly? I have downloaded instructions on removing the inside door panel assembly but would like to avoid doing it if there is some way that I can free up the spring.

George,
you'll have to remove the door panel (and the plastic protective sheet if it is still there) do check whether the spring is broken or the bolt that holds the retainer is loose.
The photo should give you an idea what is involved. Not a difficult job.

Thanks for the advice. I will let you know what I find when I dismantle the door.
