1970 SL

I am looking at a 1970 280 SL that is available for sale. 125K miles, mostly original as far as I can tell, and just two owners.  Condition appears to be very good to excellent.

I have two questions: first, is a burgundy/maroon color.  Does anyone know if this was an original MB color?  secondly, what would the expected price range for such a vhicle be?

Yes, that's quite possibly an original color. Go to the database section of this website and look up the colors.

Also, use the search feature on this site and look up a post for "Keith Martin's Sports Car Market" and you'll see an article he recently published on W113 values. They're all over the place.

Finally, go to Silver Star Restorations' website. There's an excellent primer on how to assess the condition of a Pagoda. Very insightful reading.
