Rear Axle/Trunk Mount

 ::) Hi folks,

So often, we talk about our motor mounts and trans mounts.    But while installing my 3.27 (4.5) rear axle, we had the opportunity to see under that little rectangular cover located in the forward-most portion of the trunk.      The rubber around the upper edge was completely shot.    That mount, when in good condition, keeps the upward dog-leg of the rear end stable.    I replaced mine today - and what a difference !!!    My auto shifts are now so much smoother, simply due to the fact that the rear end isn't moving about in the area that it is supposed to be stable.

Just two nut-head screws - remove the cover, and you can easily get a good "hint" of the condition of that which you cannot see.   As for part cost - MBZ about $195 - Karlyn about $45.  No one that I found, had a Karlyn in stock.    You can guess which one I eventually found :):)

Cheers, Hank

Mine was worn too. I just did a short test drive and also that the squeaking noise is gone makes a lot more fun to drive.
