Motor Mounts, Tranny Mount, Flex Disc, Support Disc
« on: August 30, 2012, 21:19:01 »
Whew.  Not a quick or fun job.  I just replaced all of the above on my 1966 230SL.  The "Support Disc" is probably the wrong terminology but I am talking about the circular rubber support around the front portion of the drive shaft.  I had to take it to a local Mercedes dealer to remove/reinstall the spanner nut on the drive shaft so that I could repace this doughnut shaped support.

I do feel better about having all of these drive line components replaced with new ones.  Some appeared to be the original parts in the car.

I took it around the block briefly to see if there were any issues and found none except that the car seems to have a slight whine in reverse.  Any thoughts?  The installation went smoothly with no binding or anything.

Whining in reverse? Did you look under the car to see if you ran over your dog?  :o

I think you will find that this noise is common amoung all of the 113's.

(I have a dog I'd like to run over!)  Thanks for the reply.  I'll pay close attention this weekend.  I noted this because I didn't think that I heard it prior to this work.
