Hi: looking to replace the plastic shift pattern insert on my  67  230 Sl automatic. Is it difficult to replace and how should I go about it.
Thanks

Use the search function, and you should be able to find the information you need. The biggest "leap" if you will, is getting the shift knob off the shifter rod. A quick blow from underneath, using a pair of protected pliers.

replaced mine a few years ago.

order the correct one.  I forgot where I ordered mine
remove shift knob
remove 4 bolts holding the chrome shift assy and lift off
remove plastic shift pattern insert

install new one
put it all back together.

Try this seller on ebay, benz restorer name of the seller is Babak,  this particular one is for later models but I know he also has the earlier version which is what you need.
