Hello all,
 My name is Redmond Kelly and I've been a member for about six months
but not had time to log on to the forum. It's a great web site one
of the best out there, Buy the way I'd like to thank Cees for all
the help since I became a Member, he posted a few questions for
me a while ago. One was about how many RHD models were made of the
113 does anyone know? I had 250sl & 230sl in the eighties while
training to be a motor mechinic but always wanted a 280sl and
now I have one, I bought one in the good old U.S. of A. Florida,
that was in feb the car arrived in at port of Felixstowe on Monday 28th june and is now being held up by customs costing me a fortune
£50.00 a day while I prove to them it's a classic car! bonkers
The car is a 1969 auto silver in color with black interior. photos attached.

You'll enjoy the site and the number of really helpful members.
Given your experience with the 250 and 230 what is there about the 280 that you felt was more attractive?

i imported my car into the u.k.in jan 04a red and parchment 71 with 57000 miles..a good shipping agent should have already informed customs and once its classed as a classic you should only pay 5 percent of your bill of sale and thats all,i have helped a few other people with their sl,s and they paid the same,i have heard of this charge  before,but only if the container is for some reason held in the port,usally the container goes to a bonded whare- house,where the car is unloaded then they allow you so many days to get your paperwork in order,and then start to charge you,if you need any tips on registration ect. let us know,if you need an agent i can recommed one who has done it all before and deals with classics.
