Soft top stuck... help needed
« on: September 24, 2012, 19:00:53 »
I have managed to get my soft top stuck with the rear bow stuck in the box compartment!

The fix for this is described in the Tech Manual but I can't get it to work.... the inverted 'L' brackets mention (that I am supposed to push up) have no give in them at all! (they merely form part of the rear bow frame).

I will try and attach photo to show the part I mean, but it does not appear to be spring loaded and does not move!

Any ideas ???

Having trouble attaching photoso will try and post it later.

This happened to me recetntly. I found that if I stood on the floor in the back of the car and had the front of the top halfway up, I could just about reach over to the rear bow and lift it out quite easily. Doing it from one side didn't work as the whole thing twisted a bit so standing in the back it was...

If you do a search on the forum you will find many a post that goes into this. Given how many owners have been stymied by this problem, I'd call this a design flaw ...

You need to push the L shaped lever (but it will only move a little) and whilst you do this, push HARD on each side of the frame up-right. You indeed cannot move the lever on it's own.
