Should rear axle serial number correspond to engine number?
«

Some time ago several members posted photos showing where the rear axle serial number is located. I have finally got around to cleaning my rear axle and have read the serial number and diff ratio. Should the serial number correspond with the engine number?

No, you will see if you have your data card that they also list the serial number of the axle.

Rutger,
There are a number of different Data Cards (DC) (4) depending which model you have and within some models, which year.
The link is to the data card area of the Technical Manual.
http://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/DataCards
You can see from the cards that in Version 1 for early 230's it is item 7 on the DC
Version 2 which was for 250's I believe had the axle as item number 14, Version 3 also has the axle as item number 14 and Version 4 the rear axle as a seperate item serial number was removed.
You will need to compare your data card with the examples to establish which your card is as I am not sure what model you have.
Hope that helps.

Hi Gary, thanks for that, my version is Version 4 and the data card has dropped the rear axle number off, never mind, thanks anyway.
